house and land perth
Malcolm Bawden and wife Erica celebrated becoming the 800th purchasers at Peet’s prestigious Burns Beach community in late 2012.
Plans for the couple’s designer home are now complete and, by mid-2013, the Bawdens will be Burns Beach residents.
“Erica and I went for a drive one day and we fell in love with Burns Beach so we decided this is where we would build and retire in comfort,” Malcolm said.
“Now we’re getting very excited. It will probably be our last new house and it’s great to have such a creative project to work on.”
Custom-designed to fit their unusual fan-shaped block in Maroma Loop, the luxury home has plenty of room for the couple’s family to gather.
“The family all love living in the northern suburbs and spending time and holidays together, especially now the grandchildren are coming along – it’s the best thing ever,” Malcolm said.
“Being part of a community and making a contribution has always been important to us and I think that will be easy to do in a beautiful, new community like Burns Beach.”
Malcolm is a keen charity cyclist who manages to fit sport around his executive role as general manager of a veterinary wholesale company. Formerly volunteer coach of a blind cycling team, he is currently making a comeback after a recent foot operation and planning to join the West Coast Veterans club.
The move to Burns Beach comes after 12 years in Hillarys, where the Bawdens’ three daughters have grown up by the coast with sporting, creative and business interests keeping them all very close – and their new home is bound to be a live hub for the extended family.
